Southeastern Commuters Betrayed Once Again!
Southeastern look to have set the premium for using the High Speed (HS) service to St. Pancras at 25% on top of their standard season ticket price for their Mainline service, though this hasn't yet been announced. If true this will mean it will be more expensive to use the HS service (with no onward travel) than it will to buy a standard season ticket AND a Travelcard. Given that Southeastern have cut a number of their Mainline services to the London Terminals to accomodate the HS service, this looks like absolute madness and will lead to severe overcrowding on the exisiting services to Cannon St and Victoria which coud be alleviated if the premium for using the HS services was set at reasonable level, which it looks like it hasn't. Given that commuters already face a 1.6% increase to their fares from 1st January while commuters across the rest of the country are set to see their season ticket price fall, this is nothing more than a slap in the face to Southeastern commuters who will feel seriouly aggrieved once the full details of the fare and timetable changes are announced. More to follow.
Don’t Let Them Get Away With It!
Whilst this incompetent government have seen fit to throw BILLIONS of pounds of our money at failing banks, allowing people like Sir Fred Godwin to walk away from the mess with gold-plated pensions in the process, we now think it’s time the government started subsiding it’s most important commodity – you and me!!!
After all, it’s our taxes Labour are using to subsidise their friends in big business through the recession – car manufacturers, property developers, arms manufacturers – so don’t you think it’s about time we started getting something back for all our hard work???
What Can You Do?
There are a number of things you can do to force Gordon Brown and Southeastern to renegotiate the terms of the franchise agreement. These include;
•
Write to your local MP and Parliamentary candidates asking them to support Fare’s Fair
•
Attend the regular ‘Meet The Managers’ events held by Southeastern and ask them directly why they’re trying to price us off their railway!
•
Write to your local newspaper
•
Make sure you invite your friends and colleagues to join the campaign
You CAN Make The Difference!
If you’re happy with being ripped off year after year, then thanks for at least visiting.
But if you’re like the rest of us and are fed up of being used a cash cow, doing nothing is no longer an option so make sure your voice is heard. It’s time for change.
Thank you!
